    Dom,

Years ago a company cared about their employees. There was a sense of loyalty that was understood. Today the only thing that matters is how much money can be made, and how quickly can it can be made. Since I joined this forum I make it a point to look at all the Remlins I run across. Serious junk is being shipped out of that plant. Maybe not all, but wow, some of the stuff I have seen is just disgusting. The 18 year old kid making minimum wage inspecting the stuff must be to distracted by the steady stream of text messages from his buddies working at the 7-eleven.

I will buy more Marlin rifles, but I will never buy one without a JM stamp on it. I have every intention of letting Remington know that, along with what I think of how they treated 200+ dedicated employees in North Haven. It will not matter, nor will it change anything, but at least the CEO of Remington will know that they lost a customer in Ohio because of the junk they produce, and the way they treated their employees.

Pierce's written perception of what Marlin in North Haven was, at the time is completely WRONG.....It was NOT a dying manufacturing plant.........It was a plant that was being raped and slaughtered!....

He has proven himself to me, to be encapable of even his own research, apparently he doesn't not recognize Machine tools, and Mfg or Assembly processes either.

He has only "REWORDED' what his "Handlers" at FGI and remington have spoonfed him..............And in doing so, Has given others in his profession a bad name, and cause for scrutiny.

    Tom,

I'm not defending what Pearce wrote but the problem with these kinds of articles is that they are designed to sell an advertiser's products. How often do you read a negative review of a firearm or related accessory? Aside from some articles that are technical in nature, the gun rags are nothing more than adult comic books. I personally know one well known gun writer who's 25 yard handgun accuracy testing is actually done from the 15 yard line.

Pearce often writes very good technical articles, especially relating to reloading, but the bottom line is there is a symbiotic relationship between gun manufacturers and gun periodicals.

    Tony,
Yup................I agree with you.............My problem is, as a Mfg Engineer and Tool and Gage Engineer, I don't accept being spoon fed anything, and I believe a man should strive for accuracy and correctness in his work, BEFORE he lends his name to the page.

But again, I agree with your statements.

    Thanks,

My daughter was looking to buy a new 39A. After talking to me, she's looking for a good used one.
    Aim Small.. Hit Small

What matters is marksmanship, shot selection, and bullet construction (mass, diameter and expansion behavior). These are things that don't tend to be found in ballistics tables

We weren’t paid anything for the article that is ridiculous! Just because a few people were upset with the purchase of Marlin by Remington there is no need to take it out on us. The article was fact based and fair reporting. If you choose to stop buying our magazine that is your choice but we are better than any other gun magazine on the newsstand today. At least the articles we publish are from writers who write about what they have done. We never have and never will publish press releases from companies. We always continue to state the facts.

    Sincerely,

    Don Polacek
