After reading about all the problems with the Remlins, I am wondering if anyone has been injured by a faulty weapon. Are they test fired on a target with a proof load?
Or do they even give a damn.

What remington is doing, is anybodies guess............

We all know what they are not doing so far.. (making a quality rifle..Originally Posted by Tomray

From what I was told. They threw out the Shooting Snails we sent them, along with quite a lot of other machines we sent them. The reason given was they didn't have the room for them.
I would hope they would test fire their rifles. I know we did in North Haven.

its very obvious that they do not test fire their guns or any other inspection, I just bought a new 1894 44 mag. 6 months ago and it would not cycle any rounds from day one, if they would have tested it at the factory it would not have been sent out. Like most buisness these days quality is no longer a concern, Years ago company's were concerned about putting out a quality product, now days like where I retired from the last 15 years quality took a back seat to production at all costs and we will deal with the problems when they show up.
I know this is off-topic, but I can't be the only one wondering what the proof load was?

The PROOF LOAD is designed to operate at 150% of the SAAMI operating pressure for that specific caliber.
In the case of the 30-30, its operating pressure is 43000 PSI.........the 30-30 PROOF LOAD would be 64500 PSI, or 1.5 times the 43000.
At Marlin in North Haven, each rifle was loaded with a PROOF LOAD and remotely fired while enclosed in a Proof Box. The Box was to protect the operator in the event the rifle blows apart.............It didn't happen often, but it can happen, and for a lot of reasons........Too much headspace, too large a chamber, bad material integrity in the chamber area, locking bolt, breech bolt or receiver.
Once the rifle passed the PROOF, the JM Proof Mark was hand stamped on the left side of the barrel with a pneumatic stamp gun. (in North Haven) by the Proof Operator......The fact that its a hand operation is the reason some proof marks look incomplete.
If a proofed rifle ever needed to be re-breeched for a bad headspace, (and rifles DO lose their headspace) or the barrel was removed or changed, it was required to be re-proofed.

I think they are using the French Military proof method. Never fired, and only dropped once.Originally Posted by wtxpatrick

The French lost 1.4 million men in WW I, over 209,000 in WW II and nearly 90,000 in Viet Nam. They may not have the best military leaders but they did know how to fight and die. After over 100 years of wars it is hard to blame them for deciding to sit one out. And no I am no friend of the French.
As far as Remington testing rifles, it appears they are using the Microsoft method and using the consumer to test them.
