i have a Marlin 30 30 model 336 with alot more than just a gold trigger.. what is it?

so this is what i know.. its from the 70's.. its a Marlin 30 30 lever action model 336.. and no there are no letters or numbers after the 336 (everyone asks that) i have seen some that have just a gold trigger but ot a gold rings around the barrel, the trigger, the sight piece, the cover over the chamber where u slide the bullets in (sorry i dont know the name of that piece), the hammer and also the inner part of the bolt.. while the rear part of the bold is jeweled cut (that is what i have been told its called) .. it also have incredibly nice wood on it! i am sorry i dont know more about the rifles actual parts and so forth but i would really love to know about more about this rifle! oh and i dont know if this helps because i dont know if it is true but the person i bought it from said it was some kind of commemorative addition and there was only a few of them (which i took as a sales pitch lol) .. oh and the type of safety it has is the kind that u pull the hammer back half way and it locks the trigger.. there are no safety buttons on it!

Welcome aboard Andrew. You really need to post pictures of the rifle in order for the folks here to assist you.

The serial number might help also to determine age, and if it has a special number to designate any commemorative issue.

the only numbers on it that look like a serial number on it are under the hammer and they are 22xxxxx.. i didnt put those numbers because the few people i have told that number to say its not the serial number .. or they could not find a rifle with those numbers.. and i didnt either when i did a search

Andrew, you should alter the serial number in your post so-as only the first 2 digits show eg; 22xxxxxx

That makes it a 78. Marlins use the first two digits subtracted from 2000 and then 2100 after the year 2000. Marlins serial numbers were behind the hammer on the top tang for a few decades.

I don't know of anything Marlin made to commemorate a 1978 date. Marlin started in 1870, so 1970 was a big year and they did specials for that. They also did commemoratives to celebrate the various models like the 1894, 1895, and 1897 model 100 year anniversary. There were some specials done for various chain stores also, ut they were marked for those stores.
My guess (without seeing a picture) would be that a previous owner embellished the gun to personalize it.
