Question on Lyman Model 21 receiver sight

I believe some one else posted a question a while back and got no answers. I was really looking forward to reading some comments about it cause I am looking into getting one. So is there anyone out there that has any experience with this sight? I would like to know the nitty gritty, ins and outs of it, is it very accurate and such. Many thanks to those who can comment on the Lyman #21 receiver sight.

Re: Question on Lyman Model 21 receiver sight

    Eric,

I have a few Winchesters with them , they are very good! Better then a tang sight, I think because they don't get in the way of your hand. they can be ajusted by tapping L-R. The model 38 is the same as the 21, but has a sm. wheel for ajustment. The down side if your looking for one is the cost! 94 win, about 200.00 and up, 86 win 400.00 and up. I haven't seen one for a marlin in awhile, if you can find one for a 1893 I would think 2-300.00 easy!

Re: Question on Lyman Model 21 receiver sight

Thanks cj5! I was looking at new reproduction ones at Buffalo Arms Company. They have them for $134.95. I am looking putting one on my Model 93. Could these sights be marked for yardage say like 100, 200, 300 etc? Also do these have two different size peeps that can be flipped between? I was thinking of going with a vernier tang but but really can not find anything I like. I'll mainly be hunting with my rifle and maybe some target shooting. I figure with the 26" barrel and the receiver sight I should be able to get some good accuracy out of it.

They look pretty good! They are marked on side and are easy to ajust, you push lever up, ajust elv. push back down to tighten. The price isn't bad
