I have a Model 97 .22 that I inherited from my grandfather back in 1971. I am hoping to find out some info on it. The serial number stamped on it is A2170. Does anyone know when this rifle was made and maybe the value?
Someone will chime in with an approximate year of manufacture, but for a value , you will need to post some detailed pictures.

Thanks for your reply. I can takes some photos and post tomorrow.
That S/N range would put it in the 1920's, probably late. Post some pictures so we can oogle it.
In the meantime you can oogle mine, a Deluxe rifle made in 1897.

Dirtwater, that is a beautiful rifle.
The Model 97 was discontinued after WW1 with the Model 39 being introduced shortly after
WW1 with the start up of The Marlin Firearms Corporation. Your Model 97 with the A prefix
was more than likely made around the 1916 to 1918 era. The price will depend on a lot of things?
