Sorry guys for the bad picture but I hope you can make it out.
I have read the section on the Glenfield Lever Action rifles starting on page 267 of "THE MARLIN FIREARMS" book by Brophy but see no reference to an AW series in either a Glenfield or a Marlin.
Does anyone know anything about the Marlin 30AW?

There were some fancy model 39's available only from Wal-Mart with a 'W' in the model designation. Could this have come from Wally World? SW

I might be wrong but I think the 30AW was a bargain 336 from a few years ago with the birch stock & maybe cheaper sights than a standard 336.

The Model 30A and the 30AW are basically the same rifles with the 30A being sold under the Glenfield name and the 30AW being sold through Wal-Mart stores. Mechanically they are the same as the Model 336C marketed under the Marlin name but used a lesser grade wood to stock it and a post front sight instead of the ramp sight used on the Marlin version as was already mentioned. There is probably no mention of the 30AW in Brophy's book as this model was a non-cataloged item given that it was only sold through Wal-Mart. Hope this helps
