    Henry H010cc vs classic 1895

    Hello Henry owners,

Can some one that owns both 45-70's or at least handled both post the differences in handling between the two. Does the Henry feel heavier? I really like my Marlin 1895 with the 22" barrel even though is back at the factory. But I've been eyeing that color case hardened receiver on the Henry. Very appealing.

Henry is lighter. A better comparison is the henry with a Guide gun, which it more closely emulates. Both excellent carbines, if you can find a Marlin with no problems.

Tman thanks for the reply but the h010cc has the 22" barrel. I was wondering if it sholders the same as the Marlin and if it's heavier. I think the Marlin is almost perfect as far as weight goes, it could also be even lighter if it lost some material on the forearm. But the Henry is just pure eye candy.

According to the Henry & Marlin websites the Ho10cc weighs 8 pounds 10 oz. and the 1895 weighs 7 pounds.

I have both. The Henry is noticeably heavier but well balanced, better trigger, fit and finish. Smoother action and every bit as accurate. You pay more for the Henry but you get more. If weight is a concern, stick with the Marlin and plan to smooth it up a bit.

This is very good info, thanks. Weight is not as much a concern. If it's well balanced and shoulders well then I'll be happy, but I may just stick with the Marlin until either Henry or Marlin come out with a 22" barrel and a full length magazine. That would be sweet.

A fully loaded, full length magazine on a 22" barrel changes the balance of the gun a bit.
    They do look good though.
