Gentlemen,
Following my recent purchase of a 39A and my satisfaction with same, I am considering the purchase of a centre fire model. Preferred calibre is either 44 or 45. but there's a catch. Due to an old motorcycle injury to my left wrist (I'm left handed) I cannot manage the straight hand butt, so I need to find a model that has the curved pistol hand in the manner of the 39A.
Can some kind person indicate if such a model is/was made, and availability?
Thanks in advance.![]()
I only know of the new models currently in production and that is referencing the Marlin firearms's website. I recently purchased a new in box .308 Marlin Express that has the pistol grip stock with the curved lever.
This is the link for Marlin's online catalog. Can't help with older models though, good luck.

The Model 1894PG in 44 Mag was made for about 2 or 3 years instead of the straight grip 1894 in 44 Mag. Finding one is the problem.

What matters is marksmanship, shot selection, and bullet construction (mass, diameter and expansion behavior). These are things that don't tend to be found in ballistics tables
357 Magnum For when you just absolutely, positively have to shoot something.
if you decide to reload...get a 35 remington....use it as is for anything on this continent except the big bears and load it down with handgun bullets for a 357 eqivalent...the 35 is a great round

Thanks for the tips chaps. In UK, lever action pistol calibre rifles are used almost exclusively for competition. The 44 or 45 calibres seem favoured, but the .357/38s are more popularly seen. More easily available I suspect.

The 357 is a great carbine caliber. The only reason that the 44 and 45 calibers are preferred in competition is the magazine holds 10 while the 357 model only holds 9. And maybe their higher momentum to knock down steel targets.

Try to find the 1894PG in 44 mag or the 1894FG in 41 mag. They are not easy to find but well worth the wait. I lucked into one of each about 5 years ago so they are out there.
