    Brescia rifle

My parents just gave me this dusty and very old rifle that was in their closet for 30 plus years. It is jammed up pretty good so before I invest any time or money into it I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. It is marked with the following:

Brescia appears to be the name or brand of the rifle
The year is apparently stamped on the barrel - 1897
Also has a serial number of AE5995
Not sure of the caliber or any other info.

I think it is an Italian rifle.

    Anyone got anything on this?

That's a toughie. Is it a bolt action? Lever? Magazine rifle? Pictures are worth a thousand words... so if you don't feel like typing- try and stick a picture in here and we'll do our best.

Brescia is the town in northern Italy that Beretta has called home for about 500 years. Need LOTS of more info and pics to go much further with spilling all kinds of copious information, could be an old Beretta or just some local gunsmith shop. what's the action type and guess of caliber? I'd think with late 1800's date a caliber marking should be somewhere.

Suspect it's a Mannlicher-Carcano, but only pix and an accurate description will tell...

I'll try and Figure out how to post pics and will do that. From what I've found the caliber is 6.5x52. It's bolt action. Also has an external mag but not with the gun.

6.5X52mm was the Italian military cartridge at the turn of the century and through World War II May be a converted Vetterli, if the magazine has been removed. Waiting to see some pix...
