Without any doubt, if you are using the sling to carry your gun, a lot, this is the best sling made. Beautiful leather work, and the braided horsehair acts as a shock absorber, also absorbs sweat so you don't chafe your shoulder. The downside is the price, but they last a couple of lifetimes.Cabela's has them, but I've found that a Browning dealer usually will have them for about $10.00 less.

I have found the "Montana" sling to be of a good design and it is leather. It's the sling I use on my 1895GS. It can be purchased here at www.istdesigns.com as well as a number of other places.

    good evening mr. green,
I've got the Montana sling too. It's all leather with no screws, brads, buckles, etc. is rugged and quiet, bought from Cabela's. There's a pic of mine on the "Georgia Hog Hunt" thread. Rev

I still like the leather slings from Marlin the best, for a Marlin that is. Thin, sturdy and nearly indestructable.

I'm really partial to the leather military style sling, with keepers (kinda like one that might have been on a Mk 1 #3[?] or our 1903 Springfield) Mr. Greenshoots.

Take a look at Dick Murray's Quickset leather sling. It's an 1 1/4" wide one-piece adjustable, made from soft, thick saddle leather. Comes with swivels installed. Worth every penny.
