Nice to know that I'm remembered by some. I'm not sure I recall who this VTDW guy is though...

Catherine, good to "see" you again. I ended up with a 30-30, and doing a bit of target shooting with it though haven't had much time for that lately. Probably not the greatest choice for self defense but the places I live in are so safe that it just doesn't feel that important, and I still have the big mean wolf/dog though he's getting up there in years like the rest of us. Though things are getting so weird in the lower 48 that I may get some serious handgun training this winter

When I go down there...it's just strange anymore. I'm used to being very aware of my surroundings up here in case of bear or moose or even sudden changes in the weather; it takes awhile for it to register when I go down there that what you have to watch out for the most is other humans. But I live in a very safe small town there.

My nephew lives in Western Montana and loves it.

How was the fishing in Cordova, Guy? It wasn't much of a year here for the sports guys at all. We're hoping for better next season.

TTL - the fishing for the silvers was superb! It really couldn't get much better. Usually in the morning and again later in the afternoon the fish would come on strong. Last Thursday afternoon I likely had the best fishing of my life, hooking and landing five silvers in thirty minutes, all taken fair, hooked in the mouth, with my fly rod. After that crazy half hour, the great fishing continued for another hour or so, then tapered off towards evening.

We had no trouble taking our four-fish limits every day, and enjoying catch and release for literally dozens of more fish. It was amazing fishing.
