    .357-.44 Bain and Davis Conversion

Has anyone here done a conversion of an 1894 Marlin .44 into a .357-.44 Bain & Davis? I'm told this can be accomplished by simply rechambering a .357 barrel and putting it into the receiver of a .44. This would make an interesting wildcat rifle, especially if a rifle length barrel could be acquired, along with a rifle length magazine tube.

Any thoughts or ideas on where I can obtain a .357 Marlin barrel would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Some of these look pretty interesting. http://www.levergun.com/Marlin/index.html

Scroll down to the bottom for some cool pics. 50 AEs are pretty big in that ejection port. :P

That was interesting reading. I'm getting pretty good performance in the .357 Magnum with 185 grain cast gas checked bullets and Hodgdon's Lil'Gun. The load I'm using just about duplicates the energy of the .30-30 Winchester and 150 grain bullets.

An acquaintance suggested the .357-44 B&D conversion, as he has one and likes it. It was just a thought, since I've got a .44 Marlin that I bought with a rust spot in the barrel for a good price.
