Shot the short barreled 500 the other day, at H&H Indoor Range, OKC, OK - they have all the reps there and you can shoot many different guns, for $3.00, for several rounds. The 500 cost one ticket for one round - they gave me an extra one free. Wish I'd shot only one - the blast made my right ear ring, its still ringing, even with hearing protection. Wicked revolver.

We understand that round has too much pressure for the Marlin action, either the '94 or '95 just won't take the pressure. I don't profess to know why, that's just whata I've heard.

Seems S&W or other manufacturer could put a rifle butt stock and fore stock on that bug revolver, like the old cowboy set-ups that did that to a six gun - would be fun to shoot, and would be real ugly, but cool.

rossbolt safetys, tang safetys and rebounding hammers are the perfect solution to a nonexistant problem.

    500 S&W lever gun

Hodgdons highest pressure for the .500 S&W is 50,700 PSI and the .475 Linebaugh is 55,000 PSI which is coming out in a 1895 Marlin action.Sounds workable to me.Larger whole but less pressure? The .454 casull has 65,000 PSI out of a levergun from Puma.Marlin should beef up or change there action or come out with another like The Puma for the .50 Caliber whoppers.

Ape, is it the 50 cal thing that makes it evil in canada?

It's available w/18.5" barrel so that can't be it.
