How have you "Justified" the purchase of another rifle with your better half ?

    Thanks for reading.

I just bought another marlin 30-30 AS, the other day and had a heck of a time, trying to Justify it with my wife.

    LOL

She does not shoot, nor has any interest in shooting as a sport.

I had sneek out of the house early to drive to Mesa to buy the rifle, and when she saw what I brought home ( again) she was not that happy.

So tell us about some ways in which you have tamed the situation.

    Thanks

Mrs Willy shoots and has her own guns some of which she put the claim on from me. I think she probably has more guns than me. I just haven't seen anything in a few years that has intrigued me enough to buy it.

sell the investment idea...firearms appreciate at 10-20% per year....there is no better place to invest a small amount of money ... you may have to sell one and show her the profit

Always costs me mate. Basically, The formula is 'the cost of a quiet life equates directly to twice the cost of the gun'. The amount can vary (increase) with the cost of the gun or the mood of the moment.

Or, if you are able to get it home without being 'captured' when the item is 'noted' just say "What this? No I've had it for (years, months, weeks,) whatever you feel you can get away with.

Sorry, but it's gonna cost yer

    Happy days

Just suck it up and be a man. There is no way to justify this. maybe buy her a really nice shotgun or small pistol and take time to show her the fun of plinking and shooting. but really you are screwed. I live through the same situations over and over. if my wife EVER looked in the gun cabinet and saw how many I actually have I am sure she would have a fit. Best advice is to not bring the gun in the house until she is at work.

I can only say that until you have so many guns that she cannot tell when one (or three) new ones show up, it's gonna be a tough road to hoe.

How do I justify the purchase of another rifle with my better half?
I don't. I'm the man of the house!
Basically I just lie, whine, snivel, beg to keep it, promise never to do it again....... whatever it takes until she forgets it, then start looking for another one.

My better half also shoots, hunts and has her own guns, so it makes it much easier. She knows that they are truly(usually) good investments and make me very happy. It sure is a better way of spending $$, than boozing, smoking, gambling, etc.

Sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness, than to ask for permission. Fortunately, my wife has always ended up forgiving me (again, and again and again......).
