Well if one scope has an issue and others don't.. I would say the scope is the problem

    Re: mini 14

put it on a ruger 280 bore sighted it came to zero with two shots then moved it on a tc carbine 223 bore sighted it came to zero in 5 shots i dont belive that the scope is the problem. could there be a problem with the ruger mounts on th mini14? they look fine but i have never mounted a scope on this rifle with these new mounts. it is a post 180 series 14 ranch rifle with intregal mounts. i just cant get my mind around why this scope will not adjust to the rifle. am i missing some trick?

So it sounds like you aren't new to scope mounting. Everything is tight and secure.
Will it hold a group at the High and Right area that it shoots? Or are they wandering around the paper? If they're wandering, it could be the ammo or the scope. Otherwise it's about figuring out how to shim your mount or scope to bring it over to where you need it.
I would shoot for a 5 shot group. If you can keep a group, shim it. But bring all of your measurements to centre first; if you can do it with a borescope.
Hopefully you can find an answer somewhere in this.

If you have mounted other scopes on the mini and zeroed them, it's definately not the rifle. Ruger rings only mount one way. If you haven't already, I would try removing everything and remounting it again. Short of that, it must be the scope. I've had a Bushnell mounted on my mini-14 for years with no issues except that I bought the higher rings so I could remove the bolt easier for cleaning. The low rings that come with the rifles make it a pain.

thanks guys i took everything down and started again. it turns out that i made the most rookie mistake possible. had the front and rear bases mixed up. all is fine now. shot a inch and a half group with it after sighting at a hundred yards. these new mimi 14's really shoot well.
