    Marlin Cowboy II

    Good evening gentlemen/ladies,

I just came across an ad for this rifle and was wondering if y'all could educate me on it. The seller wants $400 for it and claims it is #133 of just 500 made. Caliber is not listed nor is any more info on model, etc. Any ideas about the particulars on this gun?

    Any help is appreciated....

    Best regards,

    Joe

    Re: Marlin Cowboy II

I found this on the internet but it doesn't say anything about limited to 500:

    Marlin Model 1894 Cowboy II 357 & 44 Mag 10 shot Rifles
Marlin 357 Mag & 44 Mag Cowboy Rifles $745 In Stock!!!!
This handsome rifle, available in 45 Colt, 357 Mag./38 Spl. and 44 Mag./44 Spl., has become the standard by which all cowboy rifles are judged. From its elegant tapered octagon barrel, with deep-cut Ballard-type rifling, to its straight-grip walnut stock and squared finger lever, this rifle is pure Old West. To accommodate tang sight installation, the serial number is located on the left side of the receiver. 45LC version sold out.

    Found this on this sight:
    1894 Cowboy II: 1996-2000
    357 Magnum, 44-40 Win (discontinued 1999), 44 Magnum
24 " tapered octagon barrel, Marbles sights.

Assuming it's in good shape, that's a great price if it's one of these.

Bob George beat me to it but I found similar info on the web. Surprised the ad did not say what caliber. If you can contact the seller you should find out what that is if it matters to you.

There are other posts on this forum for various Roman Numeral numbered rifles in almost all models and calibers. Just do a search on Cowboy II.

    Re: Marlin Cowboy II

Back when Marlin started making 1894 Cowboys, the Cowboy II was the regular 1894 Cowboy in a caliber other than 45 Colt.

+1 with Cody77. Any pre-Remington Marlin cowboy in any caliber is almost certainly worth more than $400. As said above as long as condition is not horrible.
