    Marlin 1895 LTD

Anybody know when these were produced and what the value is? Just laid one away, half round/half oct barrel, blued, tang site, no orig. rear site.
Price way under what I believe it is worth, but what say you?

LTD"s were Davidson's special releases. I think they were all released in the late 80's thru the 90's, and vary in value, depending which one you are speaking of.....Generally, they were all released in lots of 500 or 1000 rifles. I recall there were 4 different versions.. I, II,,III & IV...There may have been a LTD VI, but I'm not sure on that.

Half round/half oct (24"?) barrel, sounds like an LTD IV, But I could be wrong, too...............The LTD III, my favorite, was an 18.5" full octagon.

Regardless, in this "Post Remington" market, I'd think any price under $700 would be a good price for the buyer, if the rifle is in 98%+ condition, and if the original box and papers are with it, the deal gets even better. I've seen LTD III's go for $1000 and a bit more, depending on condition and how bad some one wants it..........Internet bidding wars will always produce a higher price for the seller than a local gun shop.

Another member compiled a pretty good list of the Davidson LTD's. I'll second what Tom said, the LTD III is also my favorite, sleek & fast handling while retaining that classic look. You just can't get any better than that, unless it was in stainless that is.

I have a LTD II and III. Just got the II about 6 months ago. Bought it used but un-fired, no box or paperwork for $675.

It was so good that I don't think they'll let you buy another lottery ticket for the next three years.

The one above is a customized LTD-V. It has the longer half octogon and half round barrel. I like it a lot and if I hadn't stumbled across it in the used gun rack I would have probablly bought the .45-70 Cowboy.

I think you got a really good deal at the price you paid.
