Did you ever think that a few months ago that you wanting a forum for cartridge collecting would have taken off like this?![]()

Sssssssshhhhhhhh! My evil plan is coming together nicely.......don't ruin it!
Seriously, this is more fun than squishing tadpoles. Every time I see a post or a picture about some new cartridge I get all excited.
Besides, you helped. And Mr. Bledsoe. And that 57 guy. And Longgunner83. ALL of you.
Heck, all I did was ask for it. You guys MADE it.
So thank you all. Onward and upward. We have plenty left to talk about!

Don't get me wrong, if I had the coin I'd like to have a rifle for each calibre, but collecting cartridges is a bit more realistic.

Oh, by the way, there are some rather bulky packages enroute to Longgunner83 and Dirty-Thirty.
T-Man, yours is next.
Now I gotta go clean guns, and try to psyche myself up for a thorough, all-inclusive cartridge inventory. Plus working 40 hours over the next three days. Oh Joy.
The inventory will begin sometime next week........if I can bring myself to do it. What used to be a very managable gathering of cartridges has blossomed into an awesomely amazing array of ammunition, with new groups, new sub-groups, and new sub-sub-groups. I still haven't figured out how to build the cabinet to house all this stuff, but it's gonna be big. I might get it done by the end of summer, at the rate I'm going. Or Christmas. Next Year.![]()

I saw your thread asking about ways to keep track of your collection, and thought to myself, "No way am I gonna respond to that thread, I haven't a clue!"
I have brass and bullets from one end of this place to the other. You could start three more collections just off what I have laying around. When I get the inventory done, I'm gonna ship as much of the extra stuff as I can to Shane, and anyone else who wants it. Call me in a year, I might be close to done by then.

papajohn,
You`re beating your head against a brick wall trying to get the inventory done, categories seperated and a place to put everything. It`s useless to even try. By the time you get started there is another category or box of things needing attention and it just ruins all of the preplanning. Just fill every room and available space with them in any random order and you always have something to look foward to, like, orginazation that will never happen as long as you accumulate (collect) them.
Just think, I off to a show this weekend with a pocket full of trading material. No telling what may follow me home and ruin any resemblance of order here.

There is a package on the way to a couple of you guys, (jody & scott)thanks
Shoot that Marlin `93, that`s what they were made for.

I just throw my cartridges up on my bookshelf stood up nice and neat and be done with it. I even quit adding them to a list....lol. What I'm going to do here in a few days is soak them all in Brass-0 except the nickel plated ones, and clean them up real nice. Make a few dummies with some .308 diameter bullets I got laying around if possible, then stand them up on some news paper out side and spray them down with satin polyurethane so I'll never have to worry about them losing their shine, or get rusty or anything.

tman,
I clear coat mine with a gloss laquer. I find it ages better that any other type of poly or acrylic. Just my experiance. The Brasso works great getting them nice and shiney.
