    serial numbers

HI, DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GET THE DATE MADE FOR MY MARLIN CAMP 9MM RIFLE.

I HAD BEEN TOLD BY A WEB SITE THAT YOU COULD FIND THE DATE THE RIFLE WAS
MADE BY TAKING THE FIRST TWO NUMBERS OF THE SERIAL NUMBER AND SUBTRACT IT FROM 100.
IF THIS IS TRUE, THEN MY RIFLE WAS MADE IN 1990.

thanks mush. now I know that I have a pre-ban marlin camp 9mm rifle.
it got this camp 9mm for $425.00 at a local pawnshop..
right now it is in layaway until 2 more months.
looking foreward to getting the camp home, put in a better buffer and wolff spring,
then take it to the local gun range.....happy/happy/happy..

Go to the bottom of the page:

Marlin Model 336 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    MARLIN Manufacturing DATE CODE

    Or any firearm:

When was my gun made? Firearm Dates by Serial Number

No help, but great info of other guns:

IMHO, The bad part is even when Marlin was not owned by Remington the Model 9 and 45 were the red headed step children of the company. When I talked to the people in the office there was little to no information on the Model 9 or 45. No records for number of production or serial numbers. If you asked them they would answer but nothing in writing. The information is held by enthusiasts like us. That is one reason I post here.

First two numbers of my serial number are also 00. I bought the gun brand new in either 1984 or 1985, so 00 tells me nothing.

so it makes much more sense to me that the rifle may be from 1984-84 then from 2000.

My father cant remember and i cant find any paperwork.
i am trying to find a Hammer Strut Bridge and all the available parts are different from the failed one, so it makes more sense that its anearly gun then a later one. also, mine does not have a "Bolt hold-open button" on the mag well like i have seen.

I would also like to know the manufacture date of my Camp 9. Marlin look-up sites are no help so far.
1st generation, arrow on bolt handle. Six digit serial #009XXX. No cut out hood or fiber optic front sight. No checkering.
    Thanks for any help provided.

You may find that Marlin is not well known for having a good serial numbering scheme in such a way that we can verify age. Right now it is a best guess effort, so as it sounds you may have a very early model from the first year(s).
