    Gas check making dies

Whoever is interested, Lee has some gas check making dies in the works. They are only in the prototype stage right now and are suposed to work in any 7/8 X 14 thread press like most reloaders use. I was told they want to keep the cost under the equivalent of two boxes of checks or right at it. I wrote them not too long ago and voiced my opinion on the cost of checks after buying some from Midway recently and how high they were. I told them if anyone could make some tools for making our own checks and price the tool right so a public servant could afford it, Lee could. The response contained the info I mentioned. I know about one other guy selling check making dies on ebay and I won't buy a tool that I have to bid on. If you can't just sell it to me I don't want it. Should be interesting.

That sounds interesting. What would we use for stock to make the GC's from?

I would be interested also. When I stocked up on gas checks during the Clinton scare, I paid $8.95 per thousand.
Now they are almost $30.00 per thousand.

Coke cans, aluminum flashing, Copper sheeting, or brass sheeting. Several guys are making gas check dies. Look over on castboolits website or check on ebay.

    Re: Gas check making dies

    Hi PB4ME,
I have also contacted Lee regarding making some gas check dies. As of this moment in time I have yet to receive a reply, but it was only the other day,
I guess if enough people write to Lee they just may do something about it. Or finish them quicker.

    Re: Gas check making dies

Got an email from Lee. They said the same as PB4ME, that there is one in the works and we should contact then as it is the only way to help management decide what to make. The one they are working on will fit in an ordinary 7/8 press.
