040.jpgI've got 5 of um . Their fun to shoot easy but messy to load and clean. They get gummed up fast and if you get one be sure to get the steel and not brass frame.

I have 3 Black powder handguns.
A Ruger Old Army that is a real hoot to shoot.... I believe every one should own one
I also have a Traditions Buckhunter in 50 cal that is suprisingly accurate and inspired me to buy.
A Knight Hawkeye in 50 cal.. Have not shot it yet as it was missing the takedown tool but I found one last Thursday at Robinettes in Kentucky!

The link below relates what I did to improve the experience of BP pistol shooting when I first got a Ruger Old Army.

Old Army range report. (UPDATE 10/12/10)

I realize a replica .36 or .44 pistol is quite different from the ROA, but the basics remain the same and not only are they fun to shoot, but they can be surprisingly accurate as well.

I know the search engine here leaves a lot to be desired, but there are some excellent threads on BP pistol shooting here in the archives....hopefully you will be able to stumble across a few of those that offer far more insight than mine does.

I cant stop once I get started about BP revolvers.
The Italian repos usually shoot high to the left, just compensate or modify the fixed sites.
The ROAs you can get with adjustable sites.
The ROAS are the toughest of the lot.
I love my big uberti colt walker and dragoon.
I sometimes take the walker or ROA with me while out hunting with my 336.

I made a josie Wales shoulder rig to go with my 49 pocket revolver.

I want to think I was reading once that the colt walker when loaded properly was about the same as the 44magnum of today.
