My gun is new.I didn,t try it.The correct jag that was furnished with the rifle will no way return a patch by the way it is designed.Even the book that came with the gun shows just drappin the patch over the jag.Drappin the correct patch over the jag will work fine goin down, but their is no way by lookin at this design that the patch can stay on comin back up.I haven,t used the jag cause their is no way it could hold a patch comin back up.

You gotta have the right size jag. I have a few jag's and one of 'em I bought was for a 50 caliber. But I tell ya....it must be for that long lost 47.89654 caliber that they use to make back in 1678....when black powder was first discovered by two guys in a garage in New Jersey......only to later be drowned by a flood.

But....my point is it wont hold a jag in my 50 cal....or a 45 cal. To small or to big.

I don't use a jag, but a mop of the proper diameter I do use a patch with the mop works really good for me.

You were right rbyham,it worked.I found out that you also have to run a proper brush from time to time to really clean the rifling.

Glad it worked. I use a worn out shotgun brush to clean mine.

I,ve never used a mop.I have some but always just used patches on all of my guns.I didn,t know if they could be cleaned and reused and didn,t want to waste it on a one time cleanin.I did think on usin them for lubin the barrell after it,s clean and keepin it for that purpose.

I keep one on my extra range rod, I take a mix of Ballistol & water with me and swab my rifle out between shots, followed by a couple of dry patches. Mop isn't dripping just damp. Helps make barrel cleaning easier when I get home.
