Looking at jumping the ditch for the wheat harvest

Just as the title says. Have been googling around and sent off a few emails to try and get some tractor driving work for the wheat harvest, employment opportunities over here is up turd creek in a barbed wire canoe so it is time to follow other ex pats and jump over the ditch, so if you guys hear through the grapevine about any grain cart operators jobs coming up please do not hesitate in giving me a heads up.

Cheers for that Mark very much appreciated will wait to hear back from you. Out of curiosity what part of tasmania are you located my brother lives over in launcheston(SP?), 1895g I googled the plantation but all got was plantation forests lol thanks for supplying a potential lead all the same I will keep trying different searches to try and get a result on it. If I manage to get lucky with getting a job over there maybe we will have to meet up at a pub for a beer or two.

Thanks for that mate much appreciated I have been applying for by email for every job I have seen advertised on the net and called a few that only supplied telephone numbers, the more employers that can have me bought to their attention the better chance I have. Also got a thread up on the combine forums so if anything I probably will start to get calls closer to the start of the harvest got one guy interested in training me on a header if I am successful in getting a job with him. The biggest thing that is attracting me to this kind of work over there is the chance to actually learn about cropping and harvesting which NZ does not have a hell of a lot of. At the moment I am just waiting on my passport to finish being processed and also researching the cellphone providers to find out who has the best coverage out in the rural areas so i can utilize mobile broadband as I will be buying a tablet pc to keep me online. If all of this goes to plan for me maybe some of us ANZMO members could meet at a pub for a few beers depending on where I have to go to meet up with employers to start whatever job I get offered.

Looks like I have an offer on the table at the moment so if all goes well I could very well be heading to warialda to meet up with the employer to start work at the end of october. SO I will have to try and now find where I can buy myself an esky, sleeping bag/swag, pillow and drink bottles when I get over there going to be a bugger trying to shop in a city/area where I do not know my way round lol.
