Well, I took the plunge and bought reloading equipment. The wierdest thing happened when I went to make the purchase from my local bass pro. I entered set on buying the $150 Lee Anniversary reloading kit but somehow left with a Lyman kit and a $400 hole in my pocket, still cant figure that one out!Anyway, I do not hunt, just plink, and plan on shooting hard cast bullets. Im trying to find which place sells the 405gr the cheapest.
I found a website that sells them for $96 per 500 (free shipping) CB Bullets > Bullets Order
Another site I found sells them slightly cheaper at $87 per 500 (free shipping) Bullets > Hard Cast Bullets > Reloading Accessories Order Form
Have any of you used bullets from either of these sites? Is there any reason I should not use these bullets?
Finally, Is it absolutely crucial I slug my barrel? Both these sites sell their bullets at .458. The reason I ask is because if I slug it, I still can only purchase what sites offer which is mainly .458-.459
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hey there Bass -- You might consider taking a gander here for some good loads. www.gmdr.com Then I'd recommend you start with a bullet sized .459". Oregon Trail, Laser-Cast bullets are a tad more expensive but offer a selection in 300, 350 and 405. Shipping is included in their pricing. A can of Unique and you'd be on your way to some fun shooting. Hope this helps. Best regards. Wind
I've started using Cast Performance 460gr WFN GC. They are excellent. Accuracy was pretty good too. The load I was using was with Accurate's #2230 powder.
if you follow Winds advice....you cant go wrong...
The old mans selection has grown a lot since I last bought from him.

That's for sure ... when I started to load some of my first 45/70 loads, I asked Wind and he suggested the OT Laser Cast bullets (I went with the .459 405gr bullets) and Unique powder which I had plenty of. I started out with the 13gr load and it was sure easy to help acclimate to the big bore 45/70. I have increased that up to a 14 gr load. Unique sure works in the 45/70 and my 45 colt loads.
Good luck with your first 'roll-ur-owns." It sure is a satisfying to fire off your own recipes.

Now there's the pot calling the kettle black!! Rowdy's bullets clear the muzzle and hit sunshine, turn themselves just about inside out, and fall right to the ground. 10 yards, tops!! Here's what one looks like...
