    Marlin 1895 STP Trapper Limited

I bought this rifle that has a 16" barrel about a year or two ago brand new. Paid around $600 for it from what I recall. My brother in law saw it and told me there were only 500 made world wide. Is this true? He also said the rifle is worth at least a couple thousand bucks. I don't know much about the value of this gun, but can any of you confirm?

If it has jumped that much in value, I'd say this gun is as good as gold! I'm not going to sell it, becuase It is my new Pig gun! Has serial number 95STP413 .

I've read there were 500 made, and I've read there were 501 made. I don't know which is the accurate number. An STP recently sold at auction for just under $2000, but I believe it was more the result of an intense bidding war. That said, you could definately turn a profit on the one you have.

Hey Irchops, welcome to MO! For some reason that gun is a hot ticket right now and routinely go for double, or more, than what you originally paid for it on the auction sites. While there is the potential to make a profit, you would do well to hang on to that gun. With things they way they are following the Remington takeover, it is likely they will never make such a model again. Besides, I can't think of another investment that you can actually enjoy while it appreciates in value and it would make a dandy pig gun! By all means, stick around and post some photos of that bad boy. Beware Marlinitis is contagious and you may soon find that one lever gun is not enough..

Irchops, how are you ? I know you might think I'm nuts for asking and I understand if you don't consider it, but I had a "trapper" like you just bought. I bought it when they first came out in anticipation of hunting with my son who was about seven at the time. Anyway, my house was robbed and the rifle my boy has been waiting to use for years is now gone. I'm not rich, but I'd pay you a good profit. The same style Marlin is available in 45-70, 30-30, and even .35. Please let me know what you think . Thanks.
