    New butt stock check rest

    I had to share this.

I like the looks of the western style leather buttstock ammo carriers, but just don't think they are very practical. I'm an experiance leather worker and could make one if I was inclined. I found this instead. These are made by Fox Tactical if I remember right. The check rest is well cushioned and brings my eyes right up to the sights. The outside has a velcro ammo loop and the inside has a nice storage pouch. The pouch also has ammo loops, but I'll remove them and use this space for an Otis cleaning system (sans Otis pouch). I'll add a tiny velcro pouch for spares such as an ejector and lever screw - things I might loose on a hunt if I need to clean the weapon.

Less than $15 and just what I needed.

I've been using one for several years now on my 1895GS 45-70 except mine does not have the shell holder set up inside the pouch and is OD green..

I have my scope mounted on Warne 2 piece nickel bases with quick detachable Leupold QRW rings when I pop the scope off I remove from the butt stock pouch my low Weaver XS Sights backup ghost ring sight and a small screw driver pop it onto the rear scope base put the screw driver back into the pouch and I am ready to go.

I left my rear sight at home once so I was left with having to go into heavy bush after a grizzly with the scope still mounted.

I will never do that again now that I have this butt stock pouch.

My avatar pic is that grizzly...

Moki, going into the brush looking for a grizzly with any sights, even on a M60 machine gun or M203 grenade launcher, would still be too scary for me!

Post a big pic of your bear sometime if you can.

Josper, I got mine from a retail vendor, but here is the maker/importer. I've seen them on Ebay also and they run between $13 and $35 according to who sells them. 4 different colors availible.
