Two holes, one on each side makes easier tracking.

Re: Hornady 250 GR MONOFLEX LEVERevolution

I want to try out a box and see what it can do. Looks like it should be a good round and I also want to try out the 308 round. Wish they would post the ballistics on both the 45/70 and the 308 Express rounds.

Hopefully it will allow the 338 to live up to it's true potential, and provide another option for 444 and .45-70 shooters.

According to Hornady, they have not posted any ballistic numbers because the round is still in the development stage. This is per an email I received from them last week.

Hunting season is almost over, so they can afford to take their time. Better to do it once and do it right than to rush to market and screw the pooch.

Re: Hornady 250 GR MONOFLEX LEVERevolution

I would have prefered it be in a 300gr. at least or a 350gr. but then what do I know. I like hunting big black bears that require more pentration of heavy bone and musle than deer do. Maybe in the future.

I too would like to see this bullet in a 350 grain but I would not hesitate using the 250 on black bear. A 165 grain .308 will take down a black bear so I think a 250 grain 45/70 will do the job too. I think 325 leverevolution will do the job on black bear too. They are not nearly as tough as there big brown cousins.

Re: Hornady 250 GR MONOFLEX LEVERevolution

I have been looking harder at mono bullets like Barnes. From what I'm reading people are putting 53gr .224's through both shoulders of deer out to 200yds with exits on most shots, 130gr .308" through elk with exits, looks like the solid copper bullet really penetrate and I would think a 250gr .458 solid copper would be great.

Why not shoot the Barnes 300 TSX-FP? They shoot under an inch @ 100yds in my 1895. They're very impressive when expanded.
