Scope for GBL with XS Lever rail system

Bought the XS ghost ring rail system from Marlin, like the one on the SBL.

Currently mounted the 2x Leupold scope from my pistol, but pistol scopes have issues on a rifle. Need to plant your cheek in the right spot to see through them - not good for what I need.

I'd like to keep the ghost ring mounted, not take it off for a scope.

I have Leupold VX 3, VX 2 & Nikon Buckmaster on my other rifles.

Variable 2 x 7 is good for my needs. I mounted a VX 2 2x7 on my 1894 and I am happy with it.

Do you like the Redfield 2x7? Looks promising to me. I'd like to mount it a bit forward to keep the ghost ring in place and it has good relief and might just fit the bill by allowing me to mount it a bit forward.

    Suggestions?

Look further down in the Lodge section under optics, lots of very good info there.

I like the Leupold 2.5x20 on my SBL, but had to remove the ghost ring to get the scope far enough back for decent sight picture, and that scope has like 5" of eye relief. I believe the 2x7 has less eye relief, would not count on satisfactory performance mounting it fully ahead of the ghost ring.

Put either a Leupold or a Burris Scout scope on it and be done with it.

Both are great scopes, and when mounted correctly, which is forward of the reciever, they are quick and deadly.

They can also easily be used with both eyes open.

    Yeah +1, what he said..

    Both are good quality scopes.

Also with the xs system, I found the weaver quadlok mediums to be just the right height, .168
