Have Gun - Will Travel / New installation of WWG Big Loop Lever ( Pics)

I have stated in previous posts about a Bear hunting excursion and fishing trip to Canada in Atikokan Ontario in a place called Quetico on Sawbill Bay. I Have a Marlin 1895 GS in Stainless 45-70. I have a Bushnell Trophy 3x9x40 that thus far has proven sturdy and reliable and recsently, that is of today recieved my Wild West Guns Big Loop lever in the mail. I have NO gunsmithing experience and have never removed my lever from my Marlin before ( Bore snaked it ) so when I began the task I knew not what I was in for if anything............well being a novice it took me about 10-15 minutes and it was done ( punched the pin out with an ( ice pick as I had no punch that small) swaped the pin and the spring and plug and popper her in. It was in fact a perfect fit / dropped right in!!! I was elated and felt pretty good about the lesson. She looks and feels great. So any of you with the 45-70 wishing to do so you do NOT need a gunsmith. Thanx to all who have perviously posted with this same information because all of you were indeed right on! I have the Buffalo Bore ammo (405grn.) and a sweet little sling to boot and am ready to roll.

Here are a few pics of the aftermath of my surgical skills on my 1895 GS.

+1 on the WWG loop lever I installed my own, no problem either. It is however very stiff to open and close now, so may have to shorten to plunger spring a wee bit.
    Now go get that bear!

This is just a thought. If I were going where I might encounter a bear I would get the oring to put on the safety to disable it or put the kit in to do away with it totaly. In a bind would be a bad time to find it has accidentally been bumped into the safe position and will not fire. I am old school and remove mine and use the half cock safety built into the gun forever. Some people seem to like the safety if you are one of those the o ring will work and can easily be removed after your trip with no problem but in a life or death situation that's just one more thing to mess up and cause you a problem that may put you in a bind. I remove mine as soon as possible after getting them. I have 3 different marlins that came with the safety and 7 that didn't that way they are all the same now. I kept the safety's and if I ever get rid of these rifles I will put them back in but for myself I don't want them.

Nice job and thanks for sharing. Have fun on your trip!

My husband loves his Marlin 45-70!

I like some of those large loops on lever guns.

I like the title of your thread... I used to use that a lot too.
