No gas check. I'm thinking I'll start at 36 gr of 4198 and work up to 38, getting between 1700 to close to 1900 fps. Any higher I pretty sure I'm going to run into leading and acccuracy and leading problems. 300 XTPs with 42 grs of 4198, I'm getting great accuracy and will penetrate 2, 5 gal buckets full of water @ 30 yards, with a piece of 3/8 ply wood in each (to simulate shoulder blades). The XTP are expanding to nearly 1" and holding 75% of their weight (perfect for the biggest of white tails) but I'm looking for a buffalo bullet if FL ever opens Paynes Perrier to Buf hunts (which there are murmurings about with the FWC). Where their at, the shot will be under 100 yards. Judging by what I've looked into about here I'm going to need gas checks. Any thoughts from all you more experienced loaders here?

I keep a non-gas checked bullet 1400fps and below, a .430 bullet may not get you the accuracy as the XTP did.

Their are only two kinds of people, those who own a 444 and those who wish they owned one,
and yes folks, denial is bliss!
Mckmain80 says: Don't forget, a 444Marlin means a little less Government in your life! I couldn't Agree More!!!
Not much has really changed in the world in 2000 years, Christians are still being thrown to the Lions! and
Satans tool of Deception is still working like a charm, from the time of Adam and Eve, to today!
