Stopped by a local shop that I don’t check too often but on Friday afternoon I had a little time and thought I'd stop and browse. While cruising the racks seeing mostly winny 94's I came across a receiver that looked like a Marlin and immediately pulled her from the shelve. First thing I notice it’s a straight stock guide gun but when my eyes caught the ports, I quickly scanned the barrel and tag figuring it to be a 45/70 but to my surprize confirmed it to be a 444P. I've been looking for one of these for a few years now and I couldn’t believe I found one in my backyard too speak... LOL. Best part is it’s in very nice shape with just a few very minor scratches around the stock sling swivel post. Needless to say I brought her home and added it to my other (2) 444's, a 2008 22" and a NIB 2008 444XLR which I originally intended to cut down and make a guide gun out of.
Good find, since you don't need the XLR now, I'll take it off your hands.
If you are not the lead dog, the scenery never changes
good looking wood

Welcome to the club! She's a beauty..... When I found mine at a gun show I figured it was a 45/70 or 450. Dang near hurt myself getting the cash out of my billfold so fast when I realized what it was. I haggled about 30 seconds on price and said SOLD! You know, if I ever run into another in good shape I'll buy it for sure cash or credit (whatever it takes). People worry about availability of brass, etc... not me, I just buy when I can and I'll reload forever.
Congrats on your new powerhouse.
