    444 Magazine follower????

    Hi
Was pulling apart my 444,getting it ready to get reblued and was pulling the magazine tube down, taking the spring out and follower,anyhoo...I with my clod hopping feet,on concrete cracked my mag follower when I pulled it apart(it fell on the floor)

What Mag followers fit the 444S?
Was looking at these Marlin Magazine Tube Followers

Anyone have any dealing with this site?
They offer brass or stainless, what would be the best? ideas?

    Thanks
    Dale

stainless is not affected by the elements....but brass sure is pretty. I have not had any problems with the factory plungers...(plastic and steel) on my rifles. If I stepped on one and broke it, stainless would be my choice for replacement.

Thanks, the brass is pretty alright, but I suppose it would be softer than the Stainless and I stepped on it alright,I am a clutz, with my size 10 steel capped boots, maybe I can superglue it back together?
i like the look of both, but SS would be more practical.

nothing wrong with the "plastic/delron" that it came with, you breaking it was a fluke. Midway sells replacements (cheap). I'll bet you a dozen donuts that someone here will give you one just for the asking.

I am going to order either a Brass,as it should not gall on steel or the SS,maybe both

Just a thought, the older 444 would benefit from the stainless steel fowler's, if you plan on using Leverevolution ammo to prevent rounds from jamming. so i have heard

I don't think I will use the new Hornady rounds,my old girl is a 1975 444S with the microgroove barrel.
The Brass follower,I heard would not gall as easily as a steel one, don't know about SS though.

The stainless wont "gall"...I mean, we are not talking about a close tolerance, high speed, high resistance, high friction situation here. All that plunger does is ride slowly/ and loosely in the magazine tube. Heck, in a pinch, a properly made plunger fashioned from a hard wood dowel would probably work.
