I have been using Bushnell scopes for over 40 yrs. The account of the one failure I just posted, is just that,... the FIRST failure of a Bushnell in those 4 decades. Other than some older other brand classics I have taken off some firearm purchases, I rarely wander from a Bushnell purchase and hardly ever spend more than $200 bucks on a scope,... and I have found these less expensive scopes, lacking in no area I need filled. I think the purchase of MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE types of glass, simply unwarranted for my personal needs.

I have to agree as well. I have Bushnell, Weaver and Simmons scopes. Lately I have been using the Simmons ProHunter 2-7X32 scopes, I currently have 5 of them on 35 Remingtons (3), a 30-30, and a 444. I think it's really a nice scope for the money and has not let me down yet.Originally Posted by 94/44
My 2 30-06's have an older Bushnell Scopechief, and a Bushnell Banner. Both of these scopes are over 30 years old, and very rarely do I have to make an adjustment once they are zeroed. I also have 3 older Weaver 4X scopes, the steel tubed K4's. 2 of them are close to 50 years old, and the only reason I don't use them is because of the thin cross hairs. I really like the Leupold 2-7X33, until I look at the price and think...I really don't need to buy one of those for the areas I hunt, where the shots average 75 yards.
I do think my Scopechief, which was the Bushnell top of the line when I bought it, is a very well made scope, and it works well on my Ruger M77 in 30-06. But it's much too much scope for a Marlin.

I put a Bushnell 10x40 Elite mildot scope on my 06 mauser a few years ago. It has held moa @ 200 yds ever since,... without one adjustment. I just can't ask much more out of any scope.
I put a Bushnell Elite 3200 on mine and after over 500 rounds it is still dead on. Check your rings, I had a problem with my rings when I sighted it in the first time. The ring broke so I returned it and got the bigger, beefer ones
Free men dont ask to bear arms

I don't use rings per sa. I use Armalite all steel one piece base mounts on most of my scoped rifles. I have a bad right eye, and by using this higher mount I can lay my check weld over enough to use my good left eye from a right hand shooting position.
They don't break. At least I have never heard of one doing so.![]()
I too shoot the Bushnell as you mentioned, and have yet to have a problem.
I reload 290 Beartooth & 250 Beartooth. LOTS OF RECOIL and not a problem.
I did follow Ranch Dogs suggestions when the old Marlin Talk was on.
I used a dowel to align my rings and honed them out so my scope tube has even pressure all the way around. Added a little locktite and not a problem.
In fact my 30-30 & 44 mag. & 444 all wear the same glass due to my 52 year old eyes.
Have fun
Mike

You dog gone youngsters have all the advantages! I wonder if they make trifocal scopes, for us "not so young" fellas such as as myself?Originally Posted by Mckmain80

Well I got a half dozen boxes of Hornady Light Magnun 265gr delivered yesterday by UPS, so I took my 444 with a newly installed VERY old Redfield Lo-Pro scope to my desert shooting range to see where the bear craps in the buckwheat,... I just got back.
As originally deciphered, the Bushnell is what went south, not the rifle. Started at 30 yrds,.... scope was 12" low, dead center windage. Adjusted it. Went to 50yds and brought it up a dozen clicks again,... still shooting dead center. Dropped back to 175 yards, brought it up another dozen clicks, shooting dead center and started tearing out the 10 ring, standing free hand rest.
Up side? I believe this has now become my back country packing, rough bear country, scabbard carry piece.
Down side? My newly acquired 94/44mag will probably become a safe queen.
Only complaint,.... I have got to do something with this trigger!!!!!!!!!!!
Almost forgot,.... man-o-man do these light mags feed nice!!! Just like oiled glass!!! Big diff from Remingtoin 240's.
Where do I sign up for the 444 club?
