Well, I left the house yesterday at about 1700 and went to help direct traffic at our local fire works expo. I got back at 2245 or so and there was a box sitting next to my shop. A quick slice or two and I had the contents out of the box. I was most excited to see a used (but not very) Marlin 444 as I pealed away the bubble wrap....could this be a gift from a secret admirer....my wife....a son...neighbor...hunting buddy...nope, it's the one I bought off Auction Arms and I love it!!!
I have wanted a 444 since I lived in ALaska in the mid 80's and for one reason or another I just never bought one....now I have one in my hands and it is all mine!!
I know this is not very exciting to you guys that have had a 444 for years, but for me....it turned out to be a special night...complete with fireworks!!!

I certainly like my 444SS. Hopefully this season I'll be able to christen it in the field!

First thing this morning I cut the stock and put a LimbSaver pad on and set it up to take my Leupold 2x Scout Scope....ready to throw lead down range as soon as I get load up a bit. I have a ton of IMR 4895 but it looks like that is a bit too slow for most cast loads. I'm going to start with some wheel weight 315 gr SWC gas checked bullets and see how they work. Once I get them loaded I' ll let you folks know how it worked out.

Great fireworks!!!
Happy Independence Day to everyone!!!
I have 10 rounds loaded up and just waiting for 0900...my "start shooting" time.
Pic to follow as soon as I can get one of my kids out of bed who know how to do the photo bucket thing....gun fire usually works.... I also have a 7" barrel Mossberg I just built to test also, so that should wake everyone.
