I just put the front sight on the 444p that I bought from Ranch Dog. I am not done with it yet, but it's built for up-close and personal action. I haven't fired it yet. I am in no rush but I will be shooting the 450gr Hamfist in it soon. I think the 444p will be used mostly with 300gr to 450gr cast bullets and my 444ss will be used for the 225gr to 300gr cast bullets.

Instead of an oops, here is a pic of my Brockman's front sight with the tritium insert.

I think such a front sight is useful for a Grizz gun. In case you are wondering, I took the picture in a room that had zero light. There is a little green glowing bead in the center of the pic.
The closest I ever been to grizzes is just a few feet, but I never saw them cause they was moseying around my tent at around 3 or 4 in the AM. I usually fell asleep before they were gone. I'd wake up in the morning not knowing if it was a dream. Step outside the tent and there's their prints in the soft silty soil. I always thought that if I had a tango with a big bear, it would be after sundown. It's a scary thought.

What is the total weight on a 444 rifle loaded? 3-500g addes up fast!
Here's one I've been working on a while and it's still in the rough. Hope to test fire a few rounds today after work with the full length mag tube.
A 444 Sporter with 22 inch barrel, bought new by my dad in the 1970's, I remember being in the store with him the day we bought it. I also shot my first deer ever with it.
What I've changed in the last few years...
Slimmed the forearm wood. ( which I may reduce even further when I do the final build up/reblue)
Converted to straight stock and lever.
Added Pachmayr recoil pad and refinished the wood. ( I came SO close to going with a crescent buttplate. I think that would look SO cool, but from a practical point of view, I went with the recoil pad)
Made/added full length mag tube. Holds 7 rounds in the magazine.
Added WWG rear aperture sight.
Removed front sight hood, but I've kept the stock front sight for now. I actually like it better than most of the aftermarket stuff I see.
Still left to do...
Fill the currently open dovetails for rear sight and original mag tube fixture.
re-blue
I've left barrel at 22 inches for now, I REALLY like the way this looks and especially the way it holds on target. It feels and looks to me like a rifleman's rifleI won't decide about changing that until I've done some shooting with it.
I love short barrel guns, and have no problems with cutting one down, but this feels pretty nice. I have a winchester 30/30 trapper which is about the handiest rifle I can imagine, and I've seriously thought about cutting this one all the way down to 16, including shortening the fore end to keep it in proportion. But I doubt I'll do that, at least not unless I were to handle and shoot one already that short.
I want to keep it with open sights, no scope or red-dot, and the current barrel does give me a longer sight radius and a very steady, comfortable hold.

Honestly the BFR in 444 Marlin punches but no more than a hot loaded 44 Mag...
Happy Shooting!
