Thanks!!! I guess the only thing I'm wondering is the lack of iron sights as an "option"....I LIKE options!! But looks like you rescued a great rifle. The 444 is a great round! Are you also reloading for it? Have you shot it yet?

Yes, I bought it just prior to the deer season this past year and I was able to harvest three whitetails with it (all 1 shot kills, one running). I wasn't sure about it initially, to be honest I bought it because of a rule change in Ohio that allowed "straight wall" rifles for the first time. But then after hunting it in both NC and OH I really like it. So that's when I decided to go with the upgrades. I tend to hunt hard/in all weather, so my other hunting guns are mostly synthetic and stainless. On the reloading, I was into reloading shotgun shells with my Dad back in the late 70's, but then I got away from it. But with the availability issues of .444 ammo I am strongly considering getting back into it. I understand the thinking on the iron sights, I refused to even shoot a scope until I was in my mid-20's and bought my first "long range" rifle (.270 Browning). I grew up hunting in the swamps along the NC coast, so we hunted mostly shotguns (although my Dad always carried a Marlin 336 in .35 Rem). But once I got into the habit of scope shooting I now prefer it.
