    Howdy!

Hi everybody! I have been .444–less since about 1987 after I sold a lot of my guns when I joined the Army. I never forgot the .444 rifle though and how impressed I was with the accuracy the way it would clover leaf the 265 grain Rem Core-lokts I was using with my Williams peep sight, and the way it dumped deer-bang flop! After leaving active duty in 2000 (12 years infantry-spent another three in the reserves and was even activated again in 2003, after which I punched out for good) I became a police officer in the King County area of Washington State. My hunting arsenal was pretty complete (if it goes “bang” I use it for hunting: rifle-handgun-black powder) except I lacked a short to medium range center fire big game rifle, to compliment my bolt action “Wyoming canyon rifle”. I remembered my .444 from long ago, did some research online, and along the way found this awesome site which is a great resource. Anyway, fast forward to today, and as an early b-day gift, I now own a brand new .444! Just ordered reloading dies, XS lever rail with ghost sights, and a Leupold Scout scope and QD rings, can’t wait to put it all together and put some rounds down range! – J.R.

Greeting and welcome. I'm new too and new to the .444. I'm getting ready for spring bear here in Oregon. Great gun.

Welcome aboard! Here I am with my "trophy cow" taken with my Wyoming black timber rifle: 444S.

    Thanks everyone for the welcome!
LOL! Yeah Dave, my eyes aren't as good as they used to be that's for sure, hence the scout scope! I shoot in vintage military rifle matches with my M1 Garand (200 yards NRA SR target-stock issue rifle) and it is almost like a zen thing where you have to "be the bullet" and will it to the black! Makes me wonder how the heck I used to qual expert with the M16 in the Army. I'll have to find a server to post the links to some pics for you guys.
WyoStillhunter, I am sure that cow was good eating! Speaking of Wyo, I am waiting for the draw results for deer and antelope in Wyo (did not make elk), July won't get here soon enough! I have a real good old Army buddy of mine who lives in Green River, and we try to link-up and do some hunting as much as possible.
Badge851, thanks much for the info offer! Lately I have been hunting near Colville when I hunt here in WA, will have to see how the Wyo draw goes before I finalize fall plans here, so I might just reach out to you for intel if I hunt the West side.

    Howdy!

You know guys, maybe us PNW'ers ought to get together sometime and go to the range for some shooting fun. I am am member of a rifle club, here on Oregon just south of Portland off of I-5, and we could go there or I could come up. It just might be a hoot.

    Cheers
