What is the 35 Remington Advantage?

What advantage does a 35 Remington have over a 30/30. I am on vaca in Tx. And going to go Hog hunting so I will buy a rifle. I found a shop with both a 35 and a 30/30 so what advantage does it have ?

I have shot 30-30,s for decades and scored on so many deer I can,t even count. But after hearin so much praise about the .35 I had to have one.I haven,t hunted with it yet but know it,s credentials and can see what carnage it can inflict. If I was goin hog huntin and had a choice it would be the .35 hands down. The 30-30 is also very capable but like posted earlier, the .35 will make a bigger hole and hit harder.

The bigger hole is wrong . Its cooler ,all depends whos looking at it. Kills deader, Its wrong to dead is dead .Plus ammo for 30-30 is cheaper and can be found at any store

You have a heavier projectile that is wider, this means a more physical impact on animals. Depending on the bullet used, you can expect the same range as the 30-30 for shooting distance with only slightly more recoil which may not be perceived at all. Now, common in debates between these two cartridges, ammo always comes up. The 170gr load in the 30-30 seems to be going to the wayside. This would really make the superiority of the 35 more evident with its capability of handling the 200 grain or 220 grain bullets. Also, The 30-30 will kill a hog, but in the scrub brush, you want something heavier that can put one down fast by taking out bone structure quickly, especially if you run into a 400lb wild hog. The 35 is the way to go in this case given the area, the animal, and your intended purpose.
