I guess this is off topic but I finally got a gun safe . Had the traditional glass front oak cabinet till now . Yes my guns are safe and secure , but I can't easily get them out, oil them, mess with them. They all clank together when I try to get one out . Feel like my drinking buddies are all in jail and I can only visit on Sunday afternoon.
Get some silicon gun socks and stick them in there. It will prevent rust and keep them from getting dinged.
Depending on the safe you can rework or rebuild the shelves to better suit your needs. Gun socks are a good idea. I would select a reliable buddy to have on parole all the time. Let the others come out a few times a year for parties and cleaning sessions. A good rolling cart is helpful in having a place near the safe you can un-rack clean and re-rack the guns. I know what you mean about jail. Sometimes you just have to pull a gun out of the safe to have a beer with and remember good times.
My gun cabinet is prominently displayed, and the family members are happy to be apart of the home decor.
There is no better friend then your best friend.
Gun socks for sure. I have put more wear on guns in the safe, prior to getting a bale of socks, than I put on them while hunting. jack
This I-pad knows what I want to say and how to spell better than I do. Sometimes I catch it's mistakes, sometimes I don't.
I will admit that my friends are way to dear to me than to have them locked up in jail 24/7. Personally, I get great pleasure from seeing them every day and being able to grab one or two and sit down and have a drink together or a couple "shots" together (enjoying some dry firing!). To each their own, but personally, steel doors do nothing for me.
How do ya'll figure out which one is which in the gun socks? There must be a good way to mark them that I haven't thought of.
Try Tie wraps and self laminating "paper" tags.
+2 on the gun socks. They are great. As far as missing your friends, I usually pull a different one out each day and sit it were I can fondle it or just look at its beauty.
Have you hugged your Marlin today?

Like our local jail, my safe has overcrowding of inmates.
