That's a lot of money but they aren't making them anymore. For that price I hope the original box comes with it.

The Marlin 336 Marauder, with its 16 1/4" barrel, is somewhat scarce compared to your ordinary Marlin 20" barreled rifles. I believe Marlin manufactured these only in 1963 and 1964 so they're pretty collectable, especially the Marauders in .35 cal. There was less made in .35 cal.
As far as prices, $1000 seems a bit high for this rifle but you'd have to look at it and determine for yourself if it's worth it to you.

For a grand, I'd rescue a pawn shop 336, and get it shortened, then I would take what is left over and spend it on something else like and 336 XLR, or a 1894 SS. But, it's not my money...........

I wouldn't pay that much for it personally but thats just my opinion now if it was a .218 Bee or a .219 Zipper I would!!!

I'd rather have an original marauder than the 1000 little bills.

One just went for over 3000.00 on Gunbroker. May have been as new, don't remember. My thought at the time was that two fools with too much money or two drunks (or both) must have really wanted it. I haven't heard of one in nice condition for less than 8-900 for a while. The sight will add some to the value. jack

This I-pad knows what I want to say and how to spell better than I do. Sometimes I catch it's mistakes, sometimes I don't.

That's a lot of money for what you actually get. You could make or have one made for half of that. They are a rare find though. I'd love to have one, but with so many in the safe that can do its job that price would be hard to justify. If you do buy it please post some pics. We love pics of short barreled leverguns.

Usually the response on this sight is "buy it", "what are you waiting for". But it seems the price on this one is a bit steep, I would try to talk him down and if he isn't willing, go find yourself a nice Texan. A Texan can be found with some searching and you would be just as happy if not more so because you saved some money.

I've really come to the conclusion that all the marlins I own may be all I ever own. Seems like there are so many of us out there, that the prices have gone up pretty significantly on really mint old marlins. Lots of these rifles even texans/mauraders were built to be $300 rifles new on the shelf at Kmart. So even paying double kinda hurts me. I do look but unless one falls out of the sky, I guess I'm lucky to have what I got. Mauraders do fetch top dollar.
