The More-Better, Real Nice JM Stamp/Proof

Did Remington begin stamping Marlin brand rifle barrels with the old JM proof?

NO...That would be a violation of ethics. Also I don't believe that under federal law pass "Proofing" under a different name without disclosure.

I haven't heard anything that Remington has started doing this. Doesn't seem like they could of should without some type of disclosure.

Agreed with bove,I strongly doubt that Remington has done that.

Remington was allowed to use existing barrels that had the North Haven stamp but the proof mark would have to be Remington's (REP).

If Remington and/or Freedom Group bought Marlin, to include the Marlin name along with the trademark, then I do not see why they could not use the JM proof stamp. If the actual metal stamp is owned by Remington and Marlin manufacturing was moved to a different plant, then the JM stamp should theoretically be allowed to be placed on the barrel, just like the Marlin name that is on the barrel. I agree it would make it more difficult to identify the new vs old Marlins, but I can't see why it would be any more unethical or illegal than the continued use of the Marlin name. Please feel free to correct me of I am wrong.
