92 says it was made in 2008. It may or may not be a Remington assembled gun. The JM proof and 00 after the 92 are good indicators that it is one of the last Marlin assembled guns. I think (but do not know for sure) that the 00 means it was made early in the production year as it is a low serial number.
Use this link to get the dating info on Marlin rifles. It has nothing to do with the Remington made guns. You can us them to date any other Marlins you may have. Remember photos makr the guns real!
Marlin Year code, Production dates, and Ser# on 1 sheet. PDF
There were Remlins made with 91 prefixes but not the 92. The first 2 numbers or letter or letters stand for the year it was made, the rest are for the Ser#, so you have a early 2008 rifle.
Congratulation you bought yourself a real Marlin.

Thanks ,I am relieved that it is an original Marlin ,I think that the 35 rem was dropped from production so when I found this one I went for it , looks pretty good on the rack with the other levers I have collected ,I am sure that I will be using this site a lot in the future
I also have a 2008 JM stamped 35 Rem XLR. I am a 35 fan and when I found out they would no longer make the XLR in 35 I just had to find one! Mine wears a 2-7x32 Nikon scope and is a good shooter. Enjoy yours!
