Glenfield Marlin 30-30 .Is it a good gun?

Hi everybody, I am new to the Marlin addiction. I have the oppurtunity to get a Glenfield Marlin 30-30. I have never heard of a Glenfield Marlin. Just wondering if they are good rifles? I have the Marlin 336 and I love it.

Every bit a Marlin and great guns. My Glenny is quickly becoming a spoiled child among my Marlin brood.

I scour Gunbroker and other auctions for Glenfields. That will be my next lever....a Glendfield Marlin. It's the same as any other Marlin rifle, but many were made for big-name stores (Sears, Western Auto I think, and others that I don;t know about) and a Glenfield will often have a nice, unique checkering and engraving on the buttstock wrist and on the forearm.

They tend to have hardwood stocks rather than walnut. I also have a thing for Glenfields. I don't know why, but I love them.

I don't have a picture. The stock is pretty scratched up and there is wear on the blueing. Definately used. What would be a good price for me to pay. The guy wants my Maverick 88 shotgun and an old Savage 22 model 6d Deluxe. Would it be a good trade?

All Marlin as said above. I hope to add one some day. Good luck with yours.

I`d trade, as you see a lot of folks are looking for them and they`re getting harder to find, besides you need a good winter restore project..

If it's somewhat beat up and worn, I wouldn't go much over $225, probably. Depending on the condition of the Maverick and Savage, I'd say trading both for it might be a bit too much, IMHO. I'd offer the Maverick plus $40, maybe, to start. The Savage, I don't really know the value of, but I've shot a model 6, and I liked it OK. I'd guess it's a $100 gun at least, if it's in decent shape.
