    I also stick a piece of electrical tape Over the bore to help keep water out.

    I will get some wax to put under the base before re-mounting, thanks.

    I use Outers TriLube on all mine. It will displace water also, but impregnates the pores as a great rust preventer. I have used it in snow/rain, I just wipe everything down upon returning home. It never hurts anything to have a gun completely broken down and cleaned, lubed ever year. Combat Ready, ha.
