    Glenfield with deer head stock

Ran across a Glenfield 30-30 today that was a straight stock (like a Texan) and it had a deer head stamped or carved into the butt stock. I think I recall a post were someone commented on this as a special run for some store. I forget the model it was something like 30GT or something like that. Is this worth more than a regular pistol grip Glenfield? Any information on this gun is appreciated. Don't need another 30-30 but this looked a little "different".

well i aint no expert by anymeans, and the one i bought was not a straight grip, but it was a Marlin FOREMOST mdl 3040 in 30/30,with a deer head in the stock as well. This one was mede for JC Penney i believe. There is a reference library here that tells you what model for what "store brand" it was made for.As far as being worth more, there was one on GB for around 300 when i bought mine,so the prices are pretty identical, but the carving is a nice touch!
always remembered,KGW.thanks for the good times

Eventually everything becomes collectable - but it's value is a matter of time and demand. How much time do you have? Will there ever be demand? To the best of my knowledge, straight stock Glenfields are pretty rare. Don't know if there is much of a market for them though.

The better question is, "Do you want it" - because you never know how long us Marlin crazed guys will be around to sell it to and but for us there is no market.

I look at these things this way - how much does it cost me to own it.

...how much does it cost you to own it? Unless one is put on a charge card that is not paid in full each billing cycle, nothing. They only eat whenever you want them to. Have fun, jack

I would pay up to $400 on a 30GT. Is it worth that? Maybe not. To most folks, its just a Glenfield 30-30, a $300 rifle at best. But those 30GT's are rare! I have only seen them in pictures. It would be worth, to me, the $100 premium just to know that it resided in MY gun safe.

Not nothing - the money you have into it that could be doing some thing else is the cost to own it.
