    Which 336's are 24 inch barrel ?

336 experts how about some help.

If you are searching gunbroker or the other Internet sites how do you tell which 30/30 336's are long barrel ? M 36's with "A" are 24 inch. Does the same number protocol apply to 336's? Am looking for a 24 inch for Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette. Last question Were any 336's made without barrel bands like the short magazine tube 36A's ? 36A's I have seen so far are pretty rough need a good bore.

Yes, you essentially answered your own question - the Marlin model 336A (sometimes referred to as the "rifle" model) were all offered with a standard 24" barrel since introduction back in the late 1940s. I don't know the specifics of the Cowboy series. Older 336SC (sporting carbine) rifles had a short mag tube and no foreend cap or barrel band - these were 20" barrels however (check those prior to 1957?).

Early 336A's had 24" barrels. The current A is a carbine with hardwood stock.

Thanks all, so I look for "A"s DL means deluxe which is good, and if there is a "C" in the description not one for me. I can float barrel bands and the mag tube, so they may not be a negative. Short tube button mag no bands is just easier.

One seller on gunbroker has TWO very clean 336a models (in 30/30) for sale...with a pretty decent BUY NOW price....about 2 days left. I missed a nice one several weeks ago, but worked 3 extra shifts this week so I might be able to borrow against my "impending mad money" for one of them. For any of you other snipers, I want the one with the cheaper BUY NOW.

I have a 24 inch Cowboy 30/30, as well as a 20 inch RC and an 18.5 inch TS; but every time I see the 24 inch 336a, I want one. MARLIN-ITIS and VAQUERO-ITIS combined with custom boolit mold buying are expensive vices....but so are cigars, books and other necessities of life.

Are you looking at one of the .32 specials? One is listed @ $475 and these have been up for sale for some time in GB. The one you mention ("K") prefix does look pretty clean. I'm not sure why it hasn't sold. May have been refinished but I'm not sure, you might ask the seller some questions and go from there.
