    bushnell scopechief or bushnell banner?

i have a 2.5x8x32 scopechief VI, and a bushnell banner 1.5x4.5x32 dusk to dawn scopes. i can't decide which i should put on my 35rem sc. the banner is a little lighter, but the scopechief seems clearer and brighter. i have terrible eye sight for a young guy, bifocals are in my future this yr. what do you guys know about the scopechief, and which scope should i go with? thanks!

I have never looked through a ScopeChief but have Banners on a few rifles that I like.

I've not handled the Scopechief either but own several Banners. Never a problem with them. If you have confidence with the Scopechief then go with it. I like a higher magnification on my scopes too. If I can make a target bigger then I feel I have a better chance of putting my bullet where I want it.

Bought my father-in-law a Scopechief for his older Rem 760 in 257 Roberts. He likes it just fine.

Re: bushnell scopechief or bushnell banner?

The Scopechief was Bushnell's top of the line, on par with the Leupolds and Redfields of the day. I have a 3-9X40 Scopechief VI on my Ruger M77, and it's a first class scope. I have been looking for a 2.5-8 to put on my 336, but they still bring $200 used. I'd definitely go with the Scopechief. I have 2 Banners and they just don't compare.

    I'd go with the Banner.

I would go with the Scopechief if you have the choice. I have used the Banner, and I like it, but the Scopechief is a better scope.

The Scopechief will win hands down. There is no comparison.

Re: bushnell scopechief or bushnell banner?

I have a Scopechief in 3x9 with BDC that I purchased in Yokuska, Japan in 1976.
I've had it on two rifles and it is still ticking. Rifles were 308 and 30-06.
I use the Dawn-Dusk on my 444 with no problems. I'm shooting 51.8 gr.RL-7 & Beartooth 290 Lfngc. It will wake you up.
I agree the Scopechief is clearer.
    Good Luck
