You did very well for a rifle as nice as that at that price. Enjoy it.

    Brian,
I plan to take this one to the range as soon as the drifts
start melting. I will work up some mild range loads and
    have a ball.

    Re: Western Field 740A - EMN...question

OK - I feel good about my pending purchase. Just found a Western Field at the shop today. he is holding it for me 'til I can bring in a 22 rifle in trade. When it is all said and done, I should have about $200 cash in it (gave $100 for the 22 and $100 boot). Not too shabby as the 22 has been a safe queen since I bought it at auction about 12 yrs ago.

And mine looks every bit as good as vonfatman's. I was really impressed with the bluing, and the walnut stock has a very dark oil finish, which I like. 69 DOM - no CBS or checkering - also way I like it.

A quick answer to my email would be greatly appreciated!

I bought one that is in transit to my FFL.

As you can see, this one is a straight grip gun. Looks very similar to my 30GT but with Walnut and a 20 inch barrel (versus 18.5 on the 30GT).

The ad says .. westernfield model 740A-EMN 30-30. seril 69xxx.

I'm wondering how many of these are straight grips?

Are these western fields a marlin under another name like the glennfield or store brand, Or a lookalike by another manufacturer. Ive seen them before but didnt think much on them because it wasnt a marlin or glennfield.
