    Marlin 30AS

The gun shop I go to has a Marlin 30as sitting on the rack, used obviously. The gun is in good shape, bluing is good, some freckles but nothing that really stands out. Action is real smooth, stocks are in good shape, bore looks good. The original owner missed a deer because of the cross bolt safety, LOL. He got mad and took it out, all of it, and "threw that sh** over the hill." How hard would it be to find parts to replace the safety, is there a way to hide the big hole in the reciever and just do away with the safety?

The shop owner said if I would give him $175 he would jerk my arm off to get the gun out of his shop. How's the price?

    Thanks

One of the fake screw safety replacement kits would fit. The original parts (or equivalent) should be available from Brownells.

I would snag it.. and put in the replacement dummy .. or even have the parts reinstalled for the saftey if you like..

Probably would just put in the dummy since it's already out.. most don't know their is a super fast and easy fix to the CBS if the don't like it .

For a decent gun at that price, what are you waiting for? Go grab it before somebody else does. If you snooze, you lose. And let's see some pics of your new rifle.

I got my 1996 30AS brand new for $200, and its worth every penny. Now that Ive used it, and a 336, I so like the 30AS better.

You can get the parts you need right from Marlin, and they are not costly.

    Re: Marlin 30AS

Listen to me, here. I am dead serious. Be prepared to pay the 175 if you really want it. It's not a bad price. But first, offer him 125, and lay the cash on the counter in front of him. Hey, if you don't ask, you never get, and the worst he can do is say, "No".

    Re: Marlin 30AS

Thanks for the info guys. He and I are good friends so I know what he paid for it, he is making about 20 bucks selling it at that price.

I may try to give him a ring tomorrow.

    Thanks
