    336c vs. the 336w

Can someone please tell me the differences between the 336c and the 336w? The only difference I can see between the two at the gun store is the c has a padded buttstock and the w doesn't. Both are 30-30. They are like $100 difference in price so I'm thinkin I'm missing something.

    Thanks,

The 336W has a gold trigger and hardwood stock w/hard rubber butt plate..... the 336C has Walnut stock w/sissy pad and a blued trigger.

    Oh, and the price

The w has different rear sight also the w has a different lower tang on the rear plus the walnut finished hardwood stocks. The w has non removeable sling swivels also. I own a w and to me its like comparing a remington 870 express to a 870 wingmaster remington. My w shoots fine just doesn't compare with the c for fit and quality. The w is a cheaper made lower quality gun made to sell cheaper. The w is what wal-mart sells. This is my opinion and I own 4 30-30's 3 are older 336c's and the newer 336w.

How about I rephrase that a bit?? The "W" is assembled with cheaper parts, I.E. swivels, sights and stock, the quality however is still right up there as far as the mechanics go.
They are just as reliable as any top of the line Marlin out there. The only problem I had with my "W" was the trigger pull, which I had remedied a couple years ago, use to be 3" groups at 100yds, nowadays I will hit what I'm aiming at out to 300 yds. Mr fixit

Maybe I'm missing something here about the sights. They appear to have the same sights according to the Marlin website.
